2023 WSU Bread Lab Field Trip

Event Details:

The tour bus will depart Seattle at 9am, and arrive to the Breadlab at 10:15, where we will begin with presentations from WSU faculty and students. Following presentations, we will tour the BreadLab facility, and enjoy baking demonstrations and taste-testing with a pizza lunch from their wood-fired ovens.After lunch, we will take a tour of Skagit Valley Malting, and if time allows, visit the daffodils in bloom. We will depart Mt. Vernon at 3pm.

 

Breadlab Tour Presenters

Dr Stephen Jones, Director of Breadlab and WSU Professor, Crops and Soils. Dr. Jones works globally with farmers, millers and bakers to develop decentralized equitable and affordable non-commodity grain systems.

Janine Sanguine, director of Special Projects, The Approachable Loaf, a project to make good bread sustainable, affordable, and accessible, The Breadlab Collective, and Pizza for Prevention, a group effort to support farmers and the stresses of current agriculture industry.
