ARCS Evening of Science & Law: A Forward Thinking Collaboration

Please join ARCS Members and guests for an evening of gratitude with our Fellowship & Endowment donors.

Monday, February 26, 2018
5:30 – 8 pm
William H. Gates Hall Lobby
University of Washington School of Law

University of Washington School of Law welcomes the opportunity to share with the ARCS Foundation Seattle Chapter the global significance of the UW Tech Policy Lab in advancing scientific innovation from bench to true societal impact.

The Tech Policy Lab is a unique, interdisciplinary collaboration aiming to enhance technology policy through science, education and research.  Launched in 2013 with a $1.7 million gift from Microsoft, the Lab bridges the School of Law, Allen School of Computer Science and Engineering, and the Information School and brings together experts from units all across campus.

Program will feature discussions on:

  • Is your child’s new toy recording and sharing your private conversations?
  • What is augmented reality and what benefits and challenges does it introduce into our lives?
  • How will driverless cars change our city?
  • How do we reach beyond the tech mainstream to increase diversity of voices and perspectives?

In addition, students from the Technology Law and Public Policy Clinic will explore the intersection of technology, innovation, and policy through the lens of a legislative proposal on the use of autonomous vehicles on Washington roadways.

Guests will also have access to ARCS Foundation Fellows showcasing their research posters.

We are excited to celebrate our donors and share an evening of compelling discussions concerning the role of law in fostering science, technology and medical research.

All members welcome & guests are encouraged!
